500-S Oratec Microscope System
Microbe viewing
This microscope is totally unlike anything you are likely to have used in college or dental school. At the heart of every BioScan system is a laboratory quality, Nikon microscope equipped with state-of-the-art, phase contrast Infinity optics. The razor sharp optical images are captured by digital cameras and displayed on high-resolution video monitors to provide dazzling, living pictures of the periodontal microflora. Clinical Group systems are capable of showing fine detail as small as 0.5 microns (A micron is one thousandth of one millimeter or 0.000000.4 inches in English measurement). What's that mean in the real world? It means our Clinical Systems can see crisp details down to 1/24th of the diameter of a single white blood cell. Nikon's remarkable Infinity optics allow clinicians to view samples 3 different ways: Phase contrast illumination still the preferred imaging technique)
